In the UK too. My genitals were 'modified' when I was 8 years old, and the result was four decades of pain and multiple follow up operations to repair the damage.

...that I found out that my left side gonad wasn't male, and the scars on my genitalia were from the creation of a phallos.
I lived with social isolation, chronic pain and gender incongruence for decades
