Thought I'd share these Monthly Model Building Challenges out for anyone else to do.

Created for my local hobby group as motivation to get models built - maybe they'll help you too! ^.^

A graphic listing a model building challenge for each month of 2025 - intended to act as inspiration to help people build models in their backlog or for them to try something they maybe haven't thought of - or like me, to push me to modify model kits into something greater. January: Backlog Item - Build a backlog item that you've been holding off on February: Titanic - Your biggest, baddest kit - Big tank, heavy mech, or actual titan. (You're largest model also works, no need to spend money on a insanely big thing, a big dude with a sword is also fine) March: King of the Sky - Aircraft, Airships, Spacecraft, etc. April: Commander - Build your famous commander! Whether they be Carolus Rex or Commande Rex. May: Veteran - Make your veterans the most unique part of your forces. how have they updated themselves over the years? June: Heavy - your heavy unit - Tank, fortresses, heavy infantry, a Paladin with a big sword. July: Sculpt/Kitbash a model to make it look better. This can be as simple as adding greebles to extensive modification of a model. Make a vehicle feel more lived in, make your commander more unique by sculpting them a cape, etc. August: Monster/beast - What is your most ferocious monster? Your greatest beast? (Can be metaphorical too!) September: Scene/Diorama - Build any diorama/scene you want - Tavern? sure. Combat? sure. Both? Yes. October: Mythical/Legends - Build your legend, the person who, thousands of years from now, are still well known. November: Ace - Who is your mecha ace? fighter ace? Your undefeated wizard? December: Punk - Build a model that fills a "punk" theme. Cyberpunk, Dieselpunk, Cottagepunk, etc.

A graphic giving a rundown of monthly challenges for painting models. January New Year/New Style Use a painting style you’ve never tried before. (i.e. Glazing) February Love is in the Details Focus on the tiniest detail, even if it will be hidden March Stylish Make a model in a color scheme you’d never normally use (i.e. Neon) April Paint Draft Select 6 Paint ranges (i.e. Vallejo), roll a d6. Then use a RNG to pick 4 paints from that range to paint a model with. May Spring Revival Redo the paint on an older model to give it new life June Fusion Combine three styles or techniques into one model. (i.e - OSL + weathering + glazing) July Environment Focus on the terrain - muddy earth, volcanic rock, snow, urban August Unit Pride A model/unit who has heavily personalized their look and insignia September Texture Give the model some texture - rough steel, sandpaper feeling leather October Weathering Paint a model with rust, damage, grime, wounds, overgrowth, etc. November Backlog Paint the model you’ve been putting off the longest. December Holiday Hero or Villain Paint a model that captures the holiday spirit, with a twist.

An M4 Easy 8 Sherman I built for my Nephew from a Tamiya kit.

With an atypical black star on the turret from Patton's 4th Armored Division in Jan 1945, done presumably to make the star more visible under the snow.
