accommodations due to stigma. While AI does have some accessibility-related uses, mostly it is contributing to a real regression in disability access ( along with the backlash against remote work, MAHA, & related ableism).

Pre-AI, I was allowing students to use computers in open-book exams. Now I am back to closed-book bluebooks. Students get their documented accommodations but the course is less accessible. And more & more ppl are banning tech from classrooms, which means many students won't use it even with

My 3 hour drive to visit my mother would be a 7 hour trip on 5 different public transit lines + a 2.2 mile walk on roads w/out sidewalks & with 45 mph speed limits. My 15-20 minute commute to work would take ~60+ minutes on 2 different busses, as would getting to the dr (plus another unsafe walk).

And administrators switch institutions without bothering to learn the context of the new place & just try to ratchet up requirements for funsies

Yes! And localities are trying to make that worse with limits on the number of unrelated students sharing housing & other weird legislation--my city currently has a proposal to put a $300 surcharge on any landlord renting to students, which would obviously directly increase student costs.

One big accomplishment this semester for me was figuring out how to make a way for people to select their college from a 2-stage (state then school) in Qualtrics for my MA thesis student.

This is actually one of the real trust issues I would be up for talking about because I believe (the reality of) elite impunity within higher ed is why people think colleges with 85% acceptance rates are actually only admitting 15% and foregoing their responsibilities to the public
