Speed cameras or limiters ain't giving up cars. Things do change, like seat belts and catalytic converters. It's really twisted that some people equate personal freedom with breaking the law (speeding) and endangering themselves and others.

Current road funding is socialism favored by conservatives. Charging for parking is capitalism favored by progressives. Walker is right in that identity of the advocate (socialist) is conflated with some of his policies that are not that at all.

Tolling would be a much better way to fund that bridge than raising taxes statewide

It's so cool that criminals don't drive and instead take the get-away bus. Thank you to all the homeless for avoiding living in RVs and camper vans to instead ride on trains all night long. Shout out to all drivers for always staying so emotionally-stable, patient, and calm on roads at all times.

Agreed. Net cost/benefit very hard to quantify. Cost of tolls paid must also consider time savings benefit. Cost of inconvenience of mode shift to transit must consider benefit of not paying for parking, gas, etc. Some trips are happening at MORE convenient times for people willing to pay. etc.

Are we sure trips are not happening? Could changes in mode, destination, or time explain most if not all shifts? I am skeptical anyone is just electing to just sit at home not doing whatever they were doing before, all out of toll-avoidance spite.

Cars are preeminent and crashes are "inevitable" so they don't see other solution. Walk less, drive more, in bigger cars that are "safer". Reconfigure the school driveway to store more cars is an easier fix than changing area-wide land use patterns and roadway standards to discourage driving.
