Notably, the University does not include the full IHRA definition of antisemitism on its FAQ page, and as such does not specify that IHRA prohibits "claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor." Neither the FAQ nor the Progress Report links to the full definition.

I'm going to need some clarity on what "sufficient information" means because it seems like this gives the University carte blanche to bring complaints against students, faculty, and staff without producing evidence.

As with her prior feature, 1971's unnerving chamber piece MAKE A FACE (also coming soon!), Sperling self-financed THE WAITING ROOM. The granddaughter of Harry Warner, she made films that flew in the face of Hollywood convention, anticipating the work of Yvonne Rainer or Chantal Akerman.

Karen Sperling wrote, directed, co-produced, and stars in THE WAITING ROOM, which was lensed by exploitation legend Roberta Findlay. Its loose narrative follows a young woman seeking counsel about marriage from family and friends, but detours into video art, psychodrama, and Brechtian estrangement.

This will be the first public screening of Karen's incredible film in 50 years. We'll be projecting new digitizations produced by Block Cinema and @bavcmedia.bsky.social from best remaining materials, a set of U-matic transfers from the now-discarded 35mm prints.
