Very true. I am old enough to remember when the UK Top 40 countdown, was like the football results; “They’ve gone up three places, they’re just outside the Top 10, they’re at Number 5 for the fourth week running “. Shows like X Factor were the final nail in the coffin for all that.

It is often used in film and TV. If you haven’t seen it, try and watch the Netflix drama, The Queen’s Gambit, which, in one episode, has a wonderful montage sequence, cut to Classical Gas.
