Life long socialist until I get on to Social Media where I am told I am Tory-Lite.
Holding NATO hostage over which US Weapons systems can be supplied to Ukraine.

The outcome...

US manufactured systems are unreliable. Alternative sources of manufacture are required.

The US will not only be losing customers but also gaining competition as NATO researches it own.

This is becoming very Trumpian.

Immigration is not the "Only Game in Town", stop treating it as such.

Yes, we should pick one man in the world who does have a great reputation for bringing peace to the Middle East...

Ah!
I see a snag.

maybe you should have sent a letter?

I felt they were both in politics for the good they could do not becos of the career they could make.

Acheiving power was about what you could do with it, not a goal in it's own right.

Give me a philanderer and a drunk any day over a career politician.

Charles Kennedy and Paddy Ashdown would never have propped up a Tory Government.

but they had principles.
September 19, 2025 at 4:31 PM
The Tories would have been in civil war held to ransom by their lunatic Euro-Sceptic wing.

LibDems just made it easy for them and inflicted another 10+ years of Tory Govt on the Country, not to mention Brexit.

...but at least u got a PR referendum out of it and to ride in ministerial cars.
September 19, 2025 at 4:27 PM
Corbyn was a disaster for the Labour Party, happy to blame him if that does not screw with your world view too much.
September 19, 2025 at 4:23 PM
"But that isn’t a choice between power or principal because what is the point of a party that eschews the chance to govern?"

forgive me if I am missing somnething but this is the defeinition of choosing Power over Principle?
September 19, 2025 at 4:21 PM
I am agreeing you opted for Power (Coalition/PR referendum) over Principle (Austerity, Student Fees, 14yrs Tory Govt, Brexit)

I just don't see how you can dis-own the consequences.
September 19, 2025 at 4:19 PM
lol, I was replying to a LibDem sugesting Labour MPs defect to the Lib Dems.

Reform is a threat to the Country not the Party.
September 19, 2025 at 4:15 PM
There was not fiscal room for "very popular policies" in 2010.

Thus the ConLib Austerity era that followed.

wouldn't you be more at home in Reform?

as soon as you start to question what you are saying you revert to distraction and name calling.

merely answering your question...

and yet you resist the accusation of Power over Principle?

If you are going to take the 30 pieces of silver then at least own it.
September 19, 2025 at 11:13 AM
agreed ConLIB was the only viable Coalition if your objective is power.

Power over Principle is a valid

A weak minority Con Govt would have collapsed long before the 2015 Election. and the Tories would have not gained a majority.

Complicity in enabling Brexit and Austerity are also valid.
September 19, 2025 at 11:08 AM
Supporting Labour
Supporting Tories

These were not the only two options as previously stated and thus the accusation Power over Principle.
September 19, 2025 at 10:55 AM
who did not think it viable either.

Just wanted to remind you that if u post a f@ck off response you need to get ur facts right or u look very silly.

also Sinn Fein did not take their sets so only 323 required for majority.
September 19, 2025 at 10:49 AM
I sympathise with your failing competence with the internet but if you concentrate on discussion rather than trolling you will see that other paties took place in the 2010 GE.
September 19, 2025 at 9:17 AM
Lab-LibDem was prolly not viable.

Tory Minority Govt would not have been re-elected in 2015 and would likely have folded earliar.
