my mother was in the hospital for a few weeks this month (she’s doing well now and has been discharged!) and she admitted yesterday that she got in trouble her last night when her friends smuggled in a bottle of wine and they had a dinner party in her icu room

i spent most of this year dealing with depression, which was new. i spent a lot of time ruminating and indulging my inner critic, thinking that if i hadn’t made tiny mistakes, if i was more disciplined and less awkward or emotional, everything would be better.
