Better angle on this - between the construction and the tree, I'm not getting much past my driveway right now

The wind last night was so loud I didn't even hear this come down right across the street (the cones and machinery are from unrelated, planned work on the water service lines)

I got to see some friends from college (including @merovingians.bsky.social!), and no, I have no idea what I'm doing in the second picture

I've been offline a lot lately because of *gestures wildly* all of this, but I gotta share some pictures from a fantasy-themed wedding I went to earlier this month, because how adorable are these lovely people?
@werewulver.bsky.social and my dearly beloved but not yet on bsky friend Scribe. They are standing next to each other beaming in front of a purple-blue mural. Their handmade wedding outfits are vaguely elven: Nate's shirt is blue, with a high collar and a darker blue woven belt, and Scribe's dress is purple with a translucent veil with a mushroom motif over the top. They both look tremendously happy.

(now's the time I always start questioning the wisdom of cutting cloth up into small triangles and sewing them back together into different triangles and squares, however)
The same fabric pictured in the quoted skeet, but now the dark red quarter-square triangles have been sewn to half of the denim triangles to make half-square triangles, and the bright red quarter-square triangles have been sewn to the other half of the denim triangles. They're placed next to the sword-and-shield half-square triangles to show that the next step is sewing them together to turn them back into squares. Nothing has happened to the square pieces of dragon-and-knight or dark red fabric yet.

This is a global session: there are papers on bayazs and muraqqas, and I'd love it if we could get one more proposal on ANY kind of premodern miscellany so I could preside instead of giving a paper myself

While difficult to classify under one heading, miscellanies, along with their maintenance and circulation, reveal overlapping intellectual and material practices that shaped reading, writing, reciting, and gathering of texts in the premodern world. Localized scribal and curatorial processes from across the Afro-Eurasian landmass reveal shared, parallel, and divergent practices for human strategies in processing texts, ideas, and scripts. By comparing and contrasting traditions from across regions, this panel explores the centrality of miscellanies in shaping both text and reader.
