UVA had a 151 year long DEI program to insure adequate representation for the white male. By adequate, we mean 100% of all students. It has barely been 50 years since women and minorities have been admitted. I would say they are due 100 years more of preferable treatment.

Tapping into endowments cannibalizes the future for the past. If they blow their entire endowment plugging holes in their operating budget, then the next deficit kills the university.
That's why Trump and his folks are so focused on this in the first place.

One final thought on this. It is astonishing just how fully right wingers have come to dominate social media. The default for teenagers who are on the internet is for them to be sucked into a world where they are bombarded with content from Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk, Andrew Tate, Fuentes, Peterson.

The moment I feared we were cooked was in December 2015 when Donald Trump granted a friendly interview to Alex Jones and it did nothing to undermine his chances of becoming the GOP nominee. A primary electorate ok with this, would be ok with anything. Like, J6. youtu.be/4LeChPL0sLE?...

I know this is just anecdotal information from a small focus group, but still...it's terrifying to think that we've now reached the place where young "conservatives" can listen to Nick Fuentes and think "it's so unfair that people call him names like antisemite, racist, and fascist."

I'm just a cradle Catholic who spent a lot of time with the Bible as a kid, but it is very very strange to give a talk in which your basic point is "Let's find common ground between the Bible and the Nazis."
