Finally, model early, model often. Start with big coarse models that help you align the right proprieties and opportunities, then refine them and update them as you get closer to making decisions. The models will help you discard bad ideas and improve good ones. They’ll pay their way in savings.

Incentivize action. The lab with the lowest energy usage gets a pizza party (grad students are notoriously hungry/underfed). Educate on the impact of lights off and fumes hoods closed. Speaking of hoods, sensor the exhaust and control the flow based on pollutants.

Can you consolidate teaching to fewer buildings. No one likes a Friday afternoon lecture or a Monday morning one, but reducing the number of vacant classrooms and shuttering your worst performing classrooms can be a big saver.

I’d start with a thorough scope 1,2 and 3 accounting of your total footprint. Scope 3 emissions can sometimes dominate and provide good low hanging fruit. How are people getting to campus? Can you support active alternatives?
How utilized are your classrooms? Can you reach students digitally?

It is only one playbook. It’s the IDU. They are trying to roll it out everywhere. They think their way is right, and if people don’t vote for it, they are going to figure out a way to change the results of elections. That was literally what Harper said.

The leader of the official opposition is an important role. They should have the residence and staff. What we need is for the person occupying the role to actually fulfil their obligations. PP never has. We need better. The CPC needs to do better. Rage bait is not a platform.
