"A joyous romp through gore."

AMONG SERPENTS is out now in hardcover, ebook, and audiobook.
My big school visit starts today. Today, I'll be teaching on "Writing a book" and "Getting a book published."

I'm going to eat lunch with the creative writing students, too. I can't wait for their questions.

And I'm going to be signing a lot of books, too!

Wish me luck!

How I felt while writing my trilogy:

1. SKY'S END was the most exciting, but also the most work
2. AMONG SERPENTS was the most fun and easiest to write, but did require some outlining
3. DOWNFALL was the most difficult, bittersweet, and satisfying

One thing I've noticed is some of my adult readers act almost ashamed for liking my books because they're, "written for teens."

They'll say, "I know I'm a little old for this but..."

And I'm always like, "Hey man, good stories are good stories despite age categories! It's okay!"

While my kids were trick or treating, one family asked trick or treaters if they wanted candy or a potato.

So many kids chose the potato.

Student: "Mr. Gregson, why are you wearing a Six Seven shirt?"

Me: "To make it deeply uncool."

Student: "It's working."

😆

I feel like, in order to go viral, you have to complain about something.

But I don't really have anything to complain about except onions. I hate them.

And they're in everything.

It's always great waking up to a very kind email from a reader.

That feeling after you write something and start laughing maniacally because you know how angry readers will be. 🤣

I saw Funyuns flavored chicken jerky at the grocery store and I realized we are in the worst timeline.

One of the producers told me this morning that the screenwriter is planning to turn in the first draft of the screenplay adaptation of my book around Christmas!

I can't describe how surreal this all is!

I could be reading the screenplay for SKY'S END by my Christmas tree!

Another funny story from a student yesterday.

"Mr. Gregson, how much is your signature worth?"

"Probably nothing."

"Maybe ten dollars? Cause I have so many of your signatures on my papers."

"I doubt anyone is going to want to buy your Outsiders packet, bud."

🤣

A student calls me to her desk today, "Mr. Gregson, is your book in Barnes & Noble?"

"Yeah. Why?"

Her eyes bulged. And then her neighbor says, "And they're making a movie."

She about blew out of her seat after that. Then her neighbors laughed and said, "How did you not know?"

Sometimes a person asks me if they can read my earlier unpublished books.

But those books weren't ready, and I wasn't ready as a storyteller. If I let them read them, it'd be like me serving them undercooked potato! 🤣

Some day I might go back to them, but I'd have to revise!

I like kind people and try to surround myself with people who have empathy for others.

My first five books were all rejected.

I almost gave up on SKY'S END, but kept trying. It got me an agent, a trilogy book deal, became a NYT bestseller, and we have a film in development.

I have two books coming out in 2026, and more unannounced exciting news.

Unbelievable.
