This is directly contradicted by established ecologist Erle Ellis and colleagues: “With rare exceptions, current biodiversity losses are caused not by human conversion or degradation of untouched ecosystems…”

They have a number of caveats and language I consider dehumanizing. But their topline conclusion is what it is.
