Wonderful thinker and communicator. I remember a seminar at Gurdon where (in my memory at least!) he gave the entire thing with only a handful of simple slides, and his narrative of what the elegant experiments showed was so lucid and compelling. Amazing career and such a warm generous person.

Over 30 local residents gathered on Friday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the post box on Beech Croft Road, North Oxford, installed in 1925. Famous hands are believed to have dropped letters through its slot, from Enid Blyton’s daughter to Phil Selway of Radiohead and John le Carré.

There was a young entrepreneur, using Richard Branson as a role model, who tried to establish an air link about 20 years ago

Seem to remember it launched on a Monday, but (metaphorically only) crashed by the Wednesday
