What goes on here? This far northwestern corner of Greenwich, CT is cutoff from the rest of the town by I-684 (which is actually maintained by NY and not CT) and large wetland and can only be accessed from Armonk, NY.

Four different types of oak I found while on a walk earlier today in Saratoga, NY. From left to right: scarlet oak, pin oak, white oak, and northern red oak.

Umm, yeah, that's not ideal! I expect this scene to repeat itself further south in southern Vermont and the Berkshires as they days wears on due to intense snow squalls. #vtwx

Controversial take: gravy ruins turkey! The juices in the pan are more than adequate to make this turkey moist.

Not as bad as I expected for ~5 PM on the day before Thanksgiving. I've seen it worse on Sunday afternoons in the summer than it is now.

I love the small scale variations in the weather around here. Dense fog at my house, but it looks clear up on VT-9 going over the mountain. A light S to SE wind will cause my location to fog up while the other side of the hill is in the clear. #vtwx

Sometimes I post controversial left wing political takes on X just to ruffle some feathers, even if I don't stand behind them 100%. I love getting angry reactions from the blinded hordes of zombies on there as it gives me a good chuckle when I need one. 😂 They have no ability to understand sarcasm.

Peanut roundabouts and covered bridges! Welcome to Vermont! This new peanut roundabout is on VT-67A by Silk Road and Bennington College.

Yay! The Trump house that I pass nearly everyday finally took their Trump shit down! I was so tired of and annoyed with looking at it all the time! No there's some dumpy old camper there where all of the Trump/MAGA stuff was, but I'd much rather look at that.

There’s still a lot of New Hampshire north of here too. Wow! Probably mostly trees and moose though…

And just like that Mt. Washington decided to pop out from behind the clouds for a little bit! Just stunning! #nhwx
November 15, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Mt. Washington is being a bit shy so far today, but my fingers are crossed that hopefully it’ll make an appearance later before the next storm comes in this evening with a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain. There’s about 5-6” of snow here in Bretton Woods. #nhwx

Where am I? No cheating…

Ugh...not again! Yet another closure of US-7 somewhere between Bennington and Dorset. Two lane limited access freeways (with an occasional third climbing lane on uphill sections) without some type of barrier in the middle is a recipe for disaster. US-6 on Cape Cod is better, but not ideal...

RIP Geoff! I grew up watching you on WTNH-8 for years and you helped to further my passion for weather. You were a voice of reason that kept my snow dreams in check as growing up not far from the shoreline in Fairfield County often meant 1 to 3" of snow changing to rain instead of 6-10" of powder.
Here's a look at the next 48 hours from the HRRR weather model.

Even though it is overcast, the aurora borealis is bright enough to cast a reddish glow that is visible to the naked eye. The 3 second exposure on my phone camera does make it appear brighter than it actually is though.

Clash of the seasons! 3.0" of snow today, 5 NW Readsboro, VT. That first real snow of the season is always special. #vtwx

A tough few days for the weather models around here: first with a significant windstorm bust earlier this week followed by a bad forecast for today which called for cloudy skies and rain, especially this morning, but it was beautiful most of the day. Good day for a walk. #vtwx

Is it just me or are there a ton of multimillion dollar estates for sale outside of Boston right now for some reason? I follow a bunch of real estate pages on Facebook for fun and they're practically a dime a dozen...

Does anyone have any experience with laser distance measurement instruments such as this one for measuring snow depth? It can also be used for measuring water level in a water tank. Thinking about something like this to keep better tabs on snow depth this winter...

Bur oak or Swamp White Oak? Doubt I'll get any replies but figured I'd give it a shot.
