As the better-half is from Lake Charles, what I've learned over 13+ years is that low and slow will keep you from burning it. Oh, and, stir often.

One of the (many) benefits of a divorce, is not having to plan for 3+ Thanksgivings over *MAYBE* 2 days. Worst was NINE Crimmuses in THREE days. Drove 500 miles between Athens and Atlanta. I ended up with the flu middle of day 2.

This is the one I've been making for 20+ years now - www.dummies.com/article/home...

I've tweaked the recipe slightly over time. 2/3 of a cup of cream, you don't *need* the extra booze if you put the vanilla in (but it don't hurt), and use a regular 9" pie crust, as the 8" crusts overflow.

My only D-tiers are pumpkin and banana anything. Sweet potato is about a C. Pecan and coconut cream are an S-tier. Fruit pies in general are A tier for me.

I'm making a Chocolate Silk Stout Pie to bring to a friend's on T-Day that is now infamous. Yell if you want the recipe.

But, yeah. The LAST thing I want in a bloody is any HINT of sweetness. Reminds me of the sriracha craze of a few years back.

You, sir, are wrong about Apple and Key Lime, and you should feel very, VERY bad.

Eh, I loathe both banana-ANYTHING and pumpkin-ANYTHING, and am allergic to raspberries, but, yeah, anything else I'm game for.

Absolutely. Things published from the 50s-80s, and then repeated as 'grandma's secret homemade recipe'.

I mean, I've got a sizeable library of them, but a lot of them are for reference, since not every recipe in there is available in the intertubes. But, I agree with you that can sizes, in particular, have changed dramatically over time, and some products just flat-out no longer exist.

If your new one has a 'warm' setting, it's like the old-school 'low' setting, fyi.
