I had to read this book TWICE in high school, in two different grades. You couldn't pay me enough to read it again.
Also? IIRC, the event it was based on did not involve murder or a pig-inspired cult.

My father, who taught children’s literature, flat-out refused to teach Lord of the Flies. Every documented case of this kind of scenario shows people working together to survive. He thought that it was on curricula because of teachers who hate teenagers.
