Went to Lincoln Park Zoo on Sunday and walked around the nature area. Here are a few of my favorite flowers and a few cute pollinators doing their thing. I have not looked up the name of the flowers yet.

I got my first handful of green beans.
The onions are starting to get that golden wrap around them.
I have 2 beefsteaks I started from seed back in March. There are 5 different varieties of tomatoes growing.

Cool fact. My neighbor found out that Pope Leo is a distant cousin. He recalled the last name and his other cousins told home he is related. He doesn’t recall meeting the Pope but think it’s possible only if the Pope attended the family reunions. 120+ people attend the family reunion every time.

Tulips finally blooming. There are 3 more I’m waiting for. This area has bad dirt. It’s hard to get things to grow and hard to dig the dirt. 🌱 #zone5b

It’s a beautiful Good Friday today. Gloomy out but in the 70’s. Going to plant some carrots and onions this afternoon. The green beans and tomato plants are enjoying some time outside. I wish I could plant them too. 🧅 🥕 🌱 #zone5b

Green bean seedlings progress after 7 days. They look like little monsters at the stage or Venus fly trap. I hope they do better than the ones I grew last year. 🌱 zone 5b

Spring is in the air. I planted these zinnias last Monday and by Friday they grew bigger than I expected. The taller plants are carnations that I started last month. I also have a whole tray of green beans going. 🌱 #zone5b

I learned something interesting the other day from a client because my boss was in TN complaining about how she has issues with allergies every time she goes there for work. Apparently, TN & FL have a bad habit of planting male trees. Male trees produce more pollen. 🌱 www.wcnc.com/article/news...

“Botanical sexism” refers to cities’ preferences for male trees over female trees because the males produce pollen instead of “tree litter” like fruits or seeds.

🌷 Surprise, surprise, I planted tulips last year and now I have daffodil’s growing next to my tulips. Last year we had random poisonous hemlock growing and now we get a random flower.🌷

Fellow gardeners this is day 16, how are my tomatoes looking? The short ones in the upper left corner are carnations. I’m more concerned about getting the tomatoes right & making sure they are not leggy.
I do use a grow light everyday & I started using a fan this week.

11 days after the seeds were planted. Looking good tomatoes and carnations. I am still hoping the remaining 4 spots will have something soon. I still have time to add another seed if nothing happens.

My sweet little Lily did great at the vet. The small amount of the gabapentin she licked last night must have been enough. I swear it was only 2 licks.

My sweet Lily has 5 small bladder stone and was a pain at her last visit. She has to get her 2nd antibiotic shot tomorrow. Now she has to take gabapentin the night before and 2 hrs before the appointment.

Planted some seeds today. Decided to do 6 beef steak tomato and 10 carnations for now.
It’s probably too soon for the carnations but that’s okay.
I am thinking of getting 1 more light like this. It’s my desk light and it’s flexible. All I had to do was buy a grow light bulb.
