Aroace
(It/its)
This movie did a strange thing where as soon as you find out the premise you can probably guess every twist and reveal that'll happen, and yet despite that the predictability that didn't even remotely diminish how stellar every aspect of the film making, story, and acting was.

This movie felt way too long. They could have shaved off maybe a half hour? Besides some stellar practical effects work, this movie is part of the long and storied lineage of British sci-fi about interchangeable dudes in labs talking to one another while you try and remember their names.

They just don't make movies like this (stupid) any more. Sure there are dumb movies getting made but they're not earnest in their dumbness. They make dumb movies because they think the audience is dumb, not because they themselves want to see dumb stuff. I loved this movie.

I wasn't expecting a huge amount from a horror novel by the gay dinosaur e-novel guy, but this was fucking great. Wonderful concept, wonderful execution. Shocked that of all things this has maybe the best commentary on aroace erasure in queer spaces? Worth reading for sure.

This game was difficult to the point of being genuinely unpleasant at times. I'll admit there were times when sunk cost fallacy alone carried me through. At the same time it was a stunningly beautiful and thoughtful game. One who's world and characters I'll be thinking about for years.

I understand why this franchise has endured as long as it has off this show's back. Monster of the week stories get blended with genuinely thoughtful and complicated character growth. It's not Tamers, but it gets damn close at times. I'm invested in where these characters go.

Brendan Fraser really never misses. Not a lot for me to say about this one. Pretty close to perfect and even if the plot direction feels predictable at times, that doesn't make it a bad plot. Check this out if you have a chance. I'm going to look into what else this director has done.

An evil car necromancer forces Dominic Toretto into tapping into the Dark Drive Force and severing ties with his family as part of her plot to use nuclear weapons to bring about world peace. This was a very silly movie, but it felt tragically more coherent than the previous ones.

I confess to getting filtered by this game in the funniest way possible. I enjoyed the whole singleplayer campaign with my little pet deck, up until what I think was the last boss who busted out a competitive meta contender deck and proceeded to completely crush me beyond hope.

Tried something new to make her base, and I'm quite proud of the result. Looks fittingly trench-y.

A bizarre yuri (sort of?) anime miniseries. I think I liked this but some combination of its incomprehensible politics on gender and sexuality, as well as its constant need to put its heroines under threat of sexual assault means I probably won't watch it again.

I love this show.

Del Toro doing what he does best. And though I really enjoyed it, it didn't feel like he was necessarily breaking new ground stylistically. I loved the design and effects work, and the adaptational changes worked well for the story being told. I'll probably come out fonder on re-watch.
