I created and run the 38,000 strong MicromobilityNYC community, including organizing many of the marches for congestion pricing in NYC. We're doing culture shift and movement building.
This is a BIG deal, because it is the continuation of by far the largest GREEN WAVE in the city. (lights are timed for us at 15mph, not the normal of 25 for cars.) You'll soon be able to go over 100 blocks without stopping for a red light. Honestly all lights in the city should be timed this way

Normally I wouldn't. I only did it to get the "before" footage so that when the protected bike lane and Green Wave light timing go in I can compare them. Which is ridiculous because there is literally only 1 other northbound route on the East side of manhattan and it's not that close to this.

We need to be expanding the program and building on it. I've said it a million times but what we really need is more zones, to deter driving everywhere across the city and make it more expensive to go longer distances. Multiple zones could be set up like this:
