I think you may like it. It might be my best short, yet.

I feel you are onto something here. As it reads now, there are bits the reader learns about the past, by the robots actions. If expanded on, I would have to do it in a way that is not confusing or in a way that does not take the mystery away...lots to think about...lol

If this was a full novel, I feel that more explanation would be a good thing. Maybe the first chapter cover it in more detail..but I also think that for this story, the mystery of not knowing is part of the feel.
