In case anyone is wondering if my opinion on this is colored by my own experience, I can say emphatically that I am very proud of the JD I got out of a cereal box

I’ve done this for a long time & see little correlation between grades in law school and success in practice
There is a floor that good students won’t fall below but I don’t see much skill at negotiating or strategy from high GPA tier 1 grads
(Litigation may be different. I quit that 30 yrs ago)

I’ve been a biglaw attorney. I know & respect a few biglaw attorneys
IMO, though, the only ‘unique’ things Biglaw has are (1) a set of overpriced drones to do scut work that could be done by temps and (2) experts on arcana that are valuable for niches but that couldn’t support a standalone practice

My wife is emphatically not chronically online, nor is she invested in the minutiae of the news and thus has no idea who these people are.
Whenever I mention one of these morons, the look of disdain she gives me reminds me how easy it is to ignore their existence

Two thoughts:
1. Gawker (whether you supported them or not) demonstrated just how pernicious this can be. If there is an easy process for malicious actors to bring claims, even an entity with reasonable resources can be destroyed just by defending these claims

That's part of the reason I stopped. It didn't seem like anybody cared one way or the other.

I suppose the argument could be made that he is such a raving narcissist that if we could get _everyone_ to stop talking about him for 5 minutes, he would probably shrivel up and blow away.

Our ‘niece’ (not really related) who will be turning 16 asked if I would teach her to drive a stick.
Though I’m likely to try to find a car other than mine to teach her on, I’ve never been prouder or happier to do anything for her
(My wife is better on a stick than I am so she’ll likely step in)
