Sun Microsystems had the trademark for JavaScript from the beginning. They didn't really care about it too much. Oracle bought Sun, and now they do care.

The most likely reason is the final attachment is not final enough for the dummy unit to include it, but they need something for accessory makers to use to create stuff with. This assumes the leaks are mostly correct to begin with.
