latest ep is not my fave but its rly growing on me. the more i dwell on it the more i have to just admire the audacity of weaponizing the machine of online fandom engagement to create its own version of "AM didnt give us a can opener"

i still have problems with how the show Verbalizes its own intentions when it decides to but when i look at the non-verbalized parts, the supporting thematic and emotional skeleton holding up the whole show, it rly does feel very artful and powerful

my hangups are mostly moment to moment execution but man they rly bug me sometimes. like whenever they overegg a joke or an emotional beat for a few more lines of ambiguity-destroying dialogue than necessary it makes me so (probably needlessly) mad hgjksdhgjksd

obviously in terms of actual perspective its firmly a baby millennial/elder gen z show but that kinda helps it. its an attempt to describe current reality to kids who have never known literally anything else. the idea that the characters have pre-circus lives is a tragedy/comfort

its pretty impressive how just about every episode has new thematic nuances with regards to like. how it emotionally translates the internet hyperreality, increasing cultural disconnection from immediate surroundings, and endless piercing shepherds tone of structural instability
