Talks about buses way too much
Pinned
i am this account on twitter btw!!
why must the MCTS tracker be so broken ever since the schedules changed (there’s supposed to be 10 buses on route 30 not just 1 😭)
January 18, 2026 at 5:31 PM
apparently a few MCTS d40lfs lived a second life at the JFK airport for a few years as united airline shuttles. But since united stopped providing flights to JFK in 2015, these buses likely didn’t have a very long life at the JFK airport

Throughout this week on the bus I’ve heard several people complain to others riding about route 55 and route 28 only running during peak hours. One lady today told me she waited a few hours at a route 55 stop until someone told her it doesn’t run during the midday. Just insane stuff happening.

The first day of peak hour only service on route 28 isn’t going to well this afternoon. Albeit those buses are probably late because the drivers started the route a little late but it goes to show how peak hour only service can be more unreliable than a route that runs most of the day.

god damn it, it’s already happening, I formally take back any statements i have made against Chicago

i formally request a detachment of chicago from milwaukee due to unforeseen circumstances
kind of wishing chicago wasn’t a suburb of milwaukee at this moment

Today is the last day that the GreenLine, PurpleLine and RedLine run every 17 minutes on Saturday’s, instead they will run every 21-23 minutes. Now only 2 routes will run every 15-17 minutes on Saturday’s (route 30 and CN1) compared to 7 routes just a few years ago.

It’s so great to see someone making a video dedicated to MCTS! I definitely agree that the colored routes don’t feel like express routes, in fact MCTS doesn’t even label them as MetroExpress routes anymore! The frequency also has been cut recently on all the colored routes as well.
January 10, 2026 at 4:21 PM
With the upcoming service cuts this Sunday, today was the last day routes 12, 51 and 63 provide high frequency service during peak hours on weekdays and instead will run every 22-25 minutes during the midday and peak hours.
January 10, 2026 at 2:43 AM
i was riding the 51 earlier today to transfer to the 92 but the issue was the 92 was nearly 10 minutes early 😭😭 it arrived at Oklahoma at 2:14 but was scheduled to be there at 2:23 but thankfully i barely made it but the driver did kind of try to pass me though which made me a little sad :(

Despite all the service cuts planned for the winter MCTS service changes next week I found some frequency increases planned during the evening hours. Though these changes are quite minimal, it’s interesting that night service is still being improved despite all the other service cuts.

if only this could be the case in Milwaukee
The temperatures are dropping, and so are our bus schedule wait times! 🚌 In 2025, average wait times fell to 9.5 minutes, one minute less than 2024.

why must the real time MCTS tracker be so broken today, im just trying to catch the 92 but I have no idea where it actually is :(
January 3, 2026 at 4:49 PM
Looks like schedules for the extended new years service have finally been added to google this year, which is great to see!
January 1, 2026 at 6:20 AM
4 ancient d40lfrs on route 30 right now, which is basically half of them that are still in service 😭😭
January 1, 2026 at 1:33 AM
In addition of free MCTS rides after 8pm today, 9 routes will have service extended until 4am running every 25-30 minutes. This year route 14 will provide service along Wisconsin Avenue to 17th street and the BlueLine will run to 76th and mill road instead of ending at Hampton.

MCTS weekday midday route frequencies in 2022 (before service cuts started that winter). After reminiscing of the past in the last few maps, it should be noted that 2022 had some of the best service in recent memory with nearly all routes running every at least 15-30 minutes during the midday.

ok so route 54 also apparently ran every 15 minutes during the afternoon peak so I forgot that one oopsies. Anyways I’m going to do a Saturday and Sunday version of this map as well (hopefully I get it right this time)

Yearly reminder that MCTS runs on a regular Sunday schedule on Christmas Day and on every other major holiday! This includes 2 High Frequency routes and most routes running every 25-30 minutes. Happy holidays!

I’ll probably make a post later complaining about the schedule changes but the schedule previews just got released and I saw this. A route that runs only 6 times a day is really laughable, like is this even a usable route anymore? This is what happens when we don’t fund transit I guess.
