Where did the name Mansion Tax come from? I don't think that's it's legal name. Presumably a journalist coined it. Maybe even two. Perhaps they'll be duking out coinage credits in years to come, much like Messrs Maconie and Robb with Britpop

Even if you put aside all the good ethical stuff like it being equitable and the right thing or a nice thing to do (which is why I'm in favour) I'd bet it's financially sound too to make sure you have a generation of well nourished and engaged children who will be paying tomorrow's taxes.
