Yes, thrown as one piece, but then separated into a top and bottom of a closed form when trimming so it is easy to clean out. You use the square end of a chopstick or something similar to create a gallery when throwing. Here is an example, but of a larger jar. youtu.be/XRDEQ84TM04?...

Nice. I had thought of doing something similar, but I was going to make them a one-piece box, so that it was easy to clean inside.

Mostly just kids (and once myself) unloading the dishwasher. we seem to break a lot of dishes here! But I made them to use so all is okay. No exciting kiln accidents, just daily life.
