For the record I’m not nostalgic for 70s cars. I personally think the mid 90s to very early 2000s was perhaps the best era for cars.
Stuff was still decent to work on, airbags were standard, we figured out what crumple zones were, a computer ran the engine more efficiently.

5: I actually think it's kinda shit that cars that can basically drive for you are coming out. I think it's making people worse and less attentive drivers.
My hottest take is that cars should be less safe for the occupants. Driving is inherently dangerous and should be respected as such.

4: repair. Cars do tend to last longer but good god are they less friendly to repair. I realize I'm in the minority on this one, as I really only take my car to the shop for alignments and do basically everything else at home.

3: there are way too many fucking computers on them. The computer is great at making the engine work more efficiently, but why the fuck is the computer in charge of rolling the windows down. That should just be a switch, a relay, some wiring, and an electric motor.

2: can we stop fucking putting controls for stuff in screens that requires you to take your eyes off the road to manipulate. Especially HVAC controls. I shouldn't have to explain why this is dangerous.
The same goes for any automatic shifter that does the whole "return to center" thing.

1: cars are getting harder and harder to see out of and I think that's shit. Ever increasing size with thicker and thicker pillars means it's hard to actually know what's going on around you without relying on sensors and cameras

They've since deleted their entire tumblr but they've been sort of successful. I know a decent amount of people who still argue with people about it, even though most Polynesian people tend to identify with the specific island they're from, not the regional term that comes from colonization.
