Last Sat on Devon Ave, we heard from the people about what matters most: tariffs disrupting their businesses, ICE raids scaring their families, and the difficulties of day-to-day life right now. These places are the lifeblood of a community like Devon: I will be a champion for them in Congress.

Congress MUST abolish ICE. After the chaos and trauma caused by these masked thugs in our neighborhood—a WGN reporter slammed to the ground, a daycare worker kidnapped out of her classroom, and countless other examples of violent acts of terror—there is no room for incremental reform.

Bitterly disappointed in the Democrats who sold us out and folded on healthcare in a backroom deal.

People will lose health insurance and premiums will skyrocket. More people will end up in the ER. I can’t stand the complacency and weak leadership in our party that refuses to FIGHT for the people.

Here at the Illinois State Capitol where we adjourned a few hours ago at 4:30am after passing a monumental bill that FULLY FUNDS TRANSIT to the tune of $1.5 Billion, civil rights bills to counter ICE at our schools, courthouses, and hospitals, and my bill that bans 11 junk fees on renters, and more!

This weekend, I joined 100s of 1000s of Chicagoans angry about kidnappings by masked ICE thugs, our neighbors and families living in fear, and Donald Trump’s fascist regime.

I’m fighting every day until ICE, Border Patrol, and the National Guard are off our streets. Abolish ICE. Hands off Chicago.

About to hop on the Amtrak train back to Chicago from Springfield.

Demanding answers regarding unchecked ICE raids, state troopers’ presence at Broadview, and collaborating with advocates to shape legislation to counter ICE.

Also leading legislation that protects renters by banning junk fees.

I was out this morning (Tues., 10/14) in West Rogers Park watching for ICE and helping our kiddos and parents get safely to school before heading to get the Amtrak to Springfield for veto session. Inspired to see many people in the community at intersections and on bikes all around our schools.

Outraged that ICE violently detained a landscaper and a WGN producer this morning at the corner of Foster and Lincoln. This is the corner where I grew up. It’s a multi-ethnic working class community that is home, and that represents the best of America, and none of our neighbors deserve this.

I’m at Sullivan High School with Ald. Maria Hadden and community volunteers who are helping our students and family with safe passage. ICE has been in Rogers Park today and has detained neighbors. Please know your rights and report ICE sightings at 855-435-7693. We have to protect each other now.

The government is shutdown so Republicans can defund Medicaid, but ICE still endangers us all: from smoke grenades near schools, to arresting an Alderperson without cause, to shooting a woman in just the last 3 days.

We don’t need masked federal thugs in our city. Hands off Chicago. Abolish ICE.
