Under this agreement, incentives are only paid out if Southwest Airlines follows conditions which benefit the City and workers, such as:

✈️ Jobs must go to Austin residents
✈️ New employees are paid a City Living Wage
✈️ Workers are provided health insurance and other benefits

Southwest Airlines employees are largely unionized— about 85% are covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement, in which workers have a say.

Items 101: Exploring Solutions for Homelessness

We're join Mayor Watson and CMs Qadri and Velasquez on a resolution to explore funding for more community-based, non-traditional shelter options aimed at expanding shelter space and supporting job training programs.

Items 86-87: Mental and Behavioral Health

Enables Integral Care to provide behavioral health services and basic needs and to organize community forums for creative and collaborative problem solving, inclusive community participation, and community consensus building.

Item 84: Maternal and Infant Health

Extends the partnership with the University of Texas at Austin for the Mama Sana/Vibrant Woman program to improve birth outcomes and maternal/infant health within vulnerable communities of color.

Item #65: Transitioning Out of Homelessness

The City will continue partnering with The Other Ones Foundation to brings a variety of supportive services on-site at Camp Esperanza, including healthcare, mental health care, substance use services, training in skilled trades and more.
