Presumably she occupies that seat to tattle Pentagon employees to the administration.

The Economist editorial section is just asking it's readers to accept right wing media distortion as baseline reality.
December 2, 2025 at 5:20 AM
The scammiest president who ever did scam using the Biden family as political cover shouldn't be framed as a legitimate concern the Economist! How stupid do you think your readers are?
December 2, 2025 at 5:17 AM
I'm reminded of playing RISK with family members. When someone has managed themselves into an advantageous position, and their enthusiasm causes them to panic and offer up conciliatory promises to everyone on the board. That's all I can think of, because it doesn't seem sensible.

Why would you even go on the record, as pressure is building for investigations, about things you're not going to do?
December 2, 2025 at 4:40 AM
Mifune gets you a formidable list of all time greats.
December 1, 2025 at 9:51 PM
You'd also get some great early work like Little Fish, the Elizabeth films and the Conjuring.

Yeah, when this machine gets going, they have a good track record of getting academics fired.

Hopefully congressional testimony from anyone lower in the chain of command will expose this bs.

More directly, I dunno maybe? Look at the environment. I'm not trying to puzzle intent.
December 1, 2025 at 7:39 PM
I think maybe the meaning and intent are indictive of the culture which it comes from, and any consequences that flow from the usage are the result of social/ political consensus. It's also depersonalizing in a way that I find abhorrent, but it's not always said with forethought or intentionality.

CD burnings, punishment for playing games including magic, the threat of disallowing friendship with people who introduced me to the games. And then justification of bigotry against gay and trans people. It's not anodyne.
December 1, 2025 at 7:13 PM
flabbergasted by the responses coming out of the pres sec.
December 1, 2025 at 7:08 PM
I came from an evangelical background and when it's used it means that something is from the devil and should not be tolerated. Its not that it's unbiblical. It's that it in opposition to Christ. It's a term to stigmatize.
December 1, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Yeah this is the big tragedy. Virus disease and death with be a lot quieter and more personal. It'll take a lot, especially for people who don't trust experts, scientists, and news organizations, to want to hear it.
December 1, 2025 at 5:08 PM
Bleak shit. Offit is exasperated. What Kennedy is reportedly doing at HHS is vile. The people who are going to affected are disproportionately children. We're nose diving into lunatic behavior in our federal government.

Just bringing Trump's signature reverse Midas touch to public health.
December 1, 2025 at 5:07 AM
I was really hoping for a Pulp Fiction opening the suitcase moment for what was the best MRI those doctors had ever seen.

Here's to seeing this interview footnotes in court.
November 30, 2025 at 7:02 PM
This is a really depressing example of where we are. The right wing media creates talking points designed to cause fear and alarm, and shouts them over any sensible discussion of the facts. They aren't meant to be argued, they're meant to silence discussion.
November 29, 2025 at 3:09 PM
I hate this because it's actively asking you to not consider another opinion or form a cogent understanding of your own.
November 29, 2025 at 2:51 PM
Disturbed by the lack of awareness of the harm of being detained for days on end without any justification, or attempt to communicate.
November 28, 2025 at 1:12 AM
This happened a couple of times and I was like yeah this fucking format is not working, and Tim is holding up this debate like Atlas.
