Absolutely bananas. And still I find myself arguing with stakeholders who do not see bundle size as a priority
How broken is today's frontend culture?

A friend points out that the median *mobile* page is now larger than a copy of DOOM (2.6 MiB vs. 2.48 MiB), the 75th percentile page is more than 2 DOOMs, and the P90 mobile page is 4.5x the size of DOOM:

Well. I would like to watch An Unearthly Child today. But Stef is a knob so I can’t.

Finally got around to watching Fantastic Four. Shocked—shocked, I tell you—that the plot involves Pedro Pascal protecting a child of special significance.

Why would you spin it off at TG Jones, which just looks like a knock off? You could have gone back to John Menzies, for example.

My train tickets are messed up. So I am STRESSED.

Any web software folk who are involved in that sort of thing, I’ve got a talk I’m itching to do about extreme optimisation, and the benefits of designing for super low end devices.

#ffconf Inspiring and uplifting talk to finish. I needed that.

#ffconf My favourite thing about fandoms is the unabashed love of something. At a time when it’s terminally uncool to genuinely love things, and things have to be liked ironically, or loved because it’s bad — there is something refreshing about just really loving stuff for its own sake.

#ffconf And my Withnail and I fan page led to me working (in very minor ways) on two different DVD releases in 2001 and 2006

#ffconf First website I ever made was a Doctor Who fan page, back in 1998.

#ffconf The code review process of some open source projects can be brutal, unforgiving, and disheartening. It’s perhaps an area we should try to improve.

This is one of my biggest gripes with AI generated code. People don't understand what they're committing and that's so dangerous. #ffconf with @jesslynnrose.bsky.social & @edaeren.bsky.social

#ffconf Loved that talk on AI tooling diminishing the processes that drive learning. Genuinely fantastic stuff ❤️ and points I’m taking back to my team.

#ffconf I find I learn so much better when I am using a new tool to solve a real problem I have. That introduces a friction that a tutorial with known answers never satisfies
