I sense a lot of people in the U.S. waiting for the movie moment when Trump dissolves Congress and marches his shock troops into major cities to decide this is fascism. That’s pretty unlikely to happen; things will carry on similarly, just with ever-more constraints on what you can do or say

yep, this is what i think is going on. there is an underlying moral economy where service jobs are feminine and thus undesirable whereas factory jobs are masculine and thus good.
