Husband, Father, Son and Local Liberal Democrat Councillor for, Ouseburn Ward in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Imprint, promoted by the Liberal Democrats, 1 Vincent Square, SW1P 2PN.
Security bolts fitted to both ends, of both cycle stands.

Will keep trying to get the Council to change tack.

In an entirely believable turn of events, the Council have, following repeated requests, now removed the normal bolts from the bike rack. And fitted security bolts to one end.

The other end is just flapping around because of reasons?

Great to attend the public consultation event about the City Stadium Play Area at the Ouseburn Community Centre yesterday afternoon.

Thanks to Officers who stood out in the cold with us as we discussed ideas.

If you couldn't make it along in person, there's still an online option.

Pleased to see that, after several years of being missed off the list, the grit bin on Newington Road at the end of the City Stadium, has been refilled by the team, without us having to ask!

Plenty more again this morning across the City Stadium.

It's the next sign at the junction that is particularly confusing.

Unfortunately I don't have a photo of it.

But I do have this beauty from Scotswood.

Kudos to all those #VikingBiking across Heaton and the City Stadium today.

And thanks to the Arbour team for completing the removal of the ivy from the stairs / lift shaft to the same houses, which residents had reported as being used by rats.

Working hard for residents all year round.

Happy Councillor.

Caught up with two bits of #Casework at lunchtime in Shieldfield.

Thanks to the team for painting out the #graffiti I reported under the Stilts (Clarence and Stoddart).

There's an in person consultation event at Ouseburn Community Centre this Thursday 20th November from 2-6pm.

We're particularly interested in hearing from kids, or parents of kids about their play experience.

I'll be there after work, and if you can't make it, there's still the online form.

Grateful to colleagues at Newcastle City Council for acting quickly and removing some offensive #graffiti that I reported from the Sandyford Road underpass below the Central Motorway in #Jesmond.

Obviously no before photo this time round 😜

After three years of trying, and in #TransAwarenessWeek, colleagues at Newcastle City Council have finally updated the choices when reporting issues on envirocall.newcastle.gov.uk

There's now an Mx option 🏳️‍⚧️

Newcastle City Council have announced some funding to improve three play areas across the City, including at the City Stadium in #Ouseburn Ward. They have launched their initial consultation;

And are keen to hear from parents and children about what they want.

👀

Just had advance notice of a road closure on upper City Road in January; one.network?tm=GB146514863

The location and description would suggest this is for a long awaited demolition project ❔

Love the Tyneside, especially at night.

This was one of the main thrusts, albeit not the inspiration, for my Notice of Motion to Newcastle City Council last week.

Unfortunately, despite cross party support from the opposition, the Labour Party voted against delivering on their own strategy🤷

What a fantastic turn out.

Lovely evening, so busy.

Really pleased to see the temporary flood lights on Northumberland Street tonight.

Making it safer for all the people attending the Christmas Lights Switch on, and visiting Fenwick window.
November 6, 2025 at 9:14 PM
Really pleased to have been able to spend some of the Section 106 Money on the installation of Christmas Lights in the trees around Lime Street in the Ouseburn Valley.

Looking forward to the switch on at 6pm and Christmas Market tomorrow (Friday) night. The team have worked so hard.

Compare those on Heaton Road to the root in stands installed in the recent City Centre street refurbishments.

They're getting hit by something, but not snapping.

But there doesn't seem to be any recognition that I'm not going to lock my bike to a stand that a driver is likely to crash into🤷

It is still in the Committee Calendar.

Monthly meetings calendar - November 2025 | Newcastle City Council share.google/PcoeaBaGKQyo...

But there's no agenda, no papers.

Will be contacting the Monitoring Officer in the morning, because I don't want to be marked absent from the Committee.

Quite a tempestuous meeting tonight where the outcome of the Governance Review came to Full Council.

Agenda for City Council on Wednesday 5th November 2025, 6.00 pm share.google/vanKNeAFzOde...

Item 9, section 4.2, doesn't technically delete Climate Change Committee.
