Just went to see a little movie I got to hang out on set for last year with @thesakediary.bsky.social and one of my heroes, Lisberger. Appreciated the Arq grid cameo, loved the music and I’m gonna be studying some of that FUI stuff asap.

Never tried procreate on my phone before, but that’s a tidy little app for doodling prop ideas down.

Can’t relate

One of these days I’m gonna have to write a thread on the importance, at least for shallow people like me, of aesthetically pleasing but utterly visible placeholder. Derek’s right, it should stand out as separate/wip, but I don’t wanna stare at ugly stuff all day.

Big thanks to the folks who recommended this to me a few weeks ago.. my copy finally arrived. Absolute foundational text I wish I’d had a copy of three or four projects ago.

Recently came into possession of some childhood things, and it’s a treasure trove of formative objects.

Gonna tap out for the night, but we’ll resume tomorrow. One last one, and it’s collective, wanna shout out the Disney Games team. Passionate, talented people. I enjoy my work, but I enjoy the people it puts me in rooms with more. Here’s a pic of some of them taking me to the real Flynn’s, no biggie

Ok. Let’s talk The X-Files Game. A masterclass point and click FMV game. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say maybe the BEST fmv game. 1998 again, but I think I played it a bit later.

It was an episode of the show in which you took on the role of a rookie (and presumably cheaper) fbi agent.

It won’t be exhaustive, and I’ll focus more on the weird and forgotten than the obvious stuff, but these games were a big part of my childhood, and a big source of inspiration.

Let’s start with Klingon Honor Guard (1998). Utterly dwarfed by coming out in the most important year in pc gaming.

This gent’s been sat on my todo pile for a while, but it’s time.

Maybe my favorite comment on a trailer for this game yet.

Two potential answers:

a) Because it does in the movie, my brother
b) On The Grid, energy is represented as water, sometimes glowing. In Catalyst we get very nerdy about that in ways I'm not allowed to talk about yet. I have takes.
