And placating interests that threaten you shows those interests that you’re willing to placate them.

It builds their appetite for more concessions & you end up losing allies who don’t know if they can trust you to resist threats.

It’s a dangerous spiral that the US continues to (not) learn.

Ah, the Generativjugend…

(But mostly upset at how this preys not just on younger students, but the under-resourced teachers who are working their a**es off trying to do right by their kids, and have been conned into thinking that this is the future.)
