That’s what I’m getting at.

On a per innings pitched basis—no way starting pitchers have a higher injury rate.

We think of a season as 162 games, but for pitchers it’s really ~1400 innings.

I don’t think it’s fair to call someone who covers 150 of them less durable than someone who covers 60.

On two—I know the minor league study—that said starters are 2.4x more likely to be injured.

But they aren’t really the same quality of pitchers in the minors.

But I don’t think poor starters become good relievers.

It’s often starters who have great stuff—but not enough options to keep a prepared hitter guessing.
