And not just re Israel. The blithe dismissal that it is easy to write about UAE is actually quite offensive.

I’ve written several articles on the subject of Israel and it’s in my book. And, believe me, there’s a lot of risk to writing about UAE.

But this isn’t saying “United” generally - it’s a specific game, where they’re not playing another United.

again, there was only one match involving Spurs being played when I posted it. That Spurs were involved is mentioned in the piece. To complain about "United" just being used there seems like extreme pedantry, because only one United could possibly be involved.

this isn't about "worthy", it's about the fact that there is only one match going on against Spurs, and they're the only team in it.

It does officially crown the champions of Europe, though. And that's actually protected by law (genuinely!) due to fall-out from the Super League
