It’s easy to watch the news and feel overwhelmed or even helpless at everything going on. I need you to fight that feeling.

I’m an optimist. You have to be when you strap yourself to a rocket for a living. But there’s real reason to be hopeful this year and l’ll tell you why.

I made this video so we can talk about what ICE is actually doing in our cities. I have the details and you need to hear them. Please share this.

ICE isn't targeting criminals or even people here illegally. They are just making up the law - every day. Here's what's going on.

Example on a silver platter why pushing AI use is so harmful. If you have to manually review all of the results it gives you, it's not really even a timesaver. And in the meantime, it has the potential to cause so much harm.

ICE error meant some recruits were sent into field offices without proper training, sources say
An AI tool used to help ICE identify potential new recruits with law enforcement experience wrongly categorized some potential new officers, sources say.

Today in #SciFiScience - regrowing teeth in adults. Turns out there is a transcription factor in mammals that inhibits tooth growth. If it is inhibited, it that make new teeth grow. (and that's now in clinical trials) 🧪

Starting to make things can be hard. Once you start it's easier to build off what you make.

Make connections.
Make projects that amplify necessary information.
Make your friends do the things you know we all need to be doing lol.

I know it's hard & scary but shake off the horror & do something.

Sitting here with friends, scheming to bring more beautiful things into the world.

I open bluesky, am met with more horror. Every day more horror.

On Sunday, I gave a talk to the scientists where I implored everyone to do *anything*.

It's easier to break than make things. Please make something.

Today my partner showed me a clip of a heated rivalry ad being played in an actual NHL arena before an actual NHL game. I'm almost wondering if the popularity of this show will actually lead to some real, meaningful conversations in the sport.

I'm feeling optimistic today after gathering with some like-minded people. It reiterates to me how community-building and long-term, consistent effort is what's really needed to enact change.

If you've ever cried bc of talking about something distressing, but then couldn't STOP crying even after the conversation moved on, I see you. I was so dysregulated after finishing my psych appt the other day that I came into the kitchen crying while asking my partner to put some pizza rolls in.

I recently learned about the alphafold project about protein folding, and it made me wonder, is there any connection between the way proteins fold and how we're understanding we can make self-folding fabrics by manipulating how knitted textiles are created?

this seems specifically designed to break mail-in voting (where deadlines are defined by postmark)
As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.
