Geek, entrepreneur, built social media tools and got a few natural language processing patents under my belt from back when calling something AI would make the investors run away and hide.
It’s not nearly as concentrated as you think it is. The AI work that is being done in China right now is at an enormous scale. They also have the power to be able to run those systems massively because of their photovoltaic rollout. That’s not even considering local LLMs and what they can do.

I’m quite aware of the market economics of this particular industry and the technology thank you.

I have four patents in natural language processing from back in a time when if you talked about AI no investor would go near you.

Treating this like an Nvidia problem is not the solution.

The thing is it’s all distributed. It’s not just a few folks in Silicon Valley or one or two governments it’s global and it’s competitive.

The billion dollar investments are a feedback loop. If one side slows down, three others may speed up. Because they’ll have more compute and more expertise.

This has been on my mind lately. If you were guiding the development in “AI” today what would be the path you’d recommend?

It is almost a self perpetuating system. No one person, org, or gov’t can adjust the path to stop these things.

The corollary is can we identify any positive paths?
