I once went on the (simultaneously hilarious and pathetic) tour of Paul & Jan Crouch’s televangelism HQ, and Trump’s “décor” and bizarre “Presidential Walk of Fame” make their place look tastefully subtle.

On the DTLA walk today, my favorite graffiti tower was looking gloriously dystopian.
One of the delightfully creepy and dystopian “graffiti towers” in Downtown Los Angeles, a residential construction project gone wrong that went broke in the midst of construction and has been largely abandoned — and vigorously festooned with tagging — ever since. It is photographed over a tall chain link fence topped with coiled barbed wire against the backdrop of full white clouds with small patches of blue sky peeking through. Just got on a pot of chili for Sunday night family dinner. So jazzed that soup and stew season has *finally* kicked in.

A big soup pot filled with chili ingredients — cubes of pork seared mahogany on one side; diced raw and roasted red peppers, pasilla chiles, Anaheim chiles, garlic, and onion; scallions; and beef broth spiced with chili powder and cumin — just coming to a boil.
