Interested in Energy, transport, urban planning.
It doesn’t read like anything is changing in terms of densities- despite the ITs’ sub-heading.

Although, It is unclear on when the parks and community buildings would be developed and by who.

To be fair he has form. Here he is proclaiming the death of Irish tourism with the opening of Terminal 2. Not everything he says should be taken seriously.

A lot of passenger journeys are by car and taxi so the passenger cap can’t be removed until we have a higher capacity transport connection

Might be useful if the Irish Times could tell people that there is a cost benefit analysis for MetroLink rather than let their contributors pretend there hasn’t been one.

Politicians and media are relying on the fact that other countries are also off track but our fines are comparatively huge relative to others.

We’ve already been fined before for around €300m and we’re going to get hit again.

A great graphic on potential travel times across the Island of Ireland if the All Ireland Strategic rail review recommendations were implemented.

Some insane choices have been made which are crippling the development of infrastructure in Ireland.

The ongoing cost of partition is also worth noting.

The current vs AISRR rail network maps shows what all island planning can potentially deliver.

The public transport part doesn’t stand up, we’re up to twelve 24 hour bus service and 12 Nitelinks in Dublin. They’re should be more but it’s more comprehensive than he portrays.

licensing law should really be at local authority level. They have the expertise to assess capacity/fire safety etc.

The taskforce’s appropriate governance section talked a lot about the issues with Dublins governance and then recommended undermining local government further by creating this new unaccountable (to locally elected politicians) agency

Reading over it, The taskforce didn’t actually recommend mixed use for the GPO

The boys are back and they won’t be having any new fangled nonsense like electrified railways!

Best to stick to adding more motorways which we already have 1,000km off.
June 24, 2025 at 10:54 AM
It comes off the back of this taskforce report. It’s being run by the department of Taoiseach. Dublin City council or its councillors don’t really have much input.

Further to this point, it’s worth highlighting Ireland has, by a long way, the lowest percentage of electrified Rail in the EU.

Have you tried Transit app?
It works in UK and Ireland from what I can see.

The public vote is very easy to compromise. One person with multiple cards could put in hundreds of votes which would probably be enough to secure a win in smaller countries.

The framing of this article on Instagram makes an even more blatant insinuation while having zero justification. Shambolic.

That’s why we put benches beside major arterial roads - then no one can hear them.

Estonia has had electronic health record nationally since 2008, is 17 years ago.

They also have a lot of other digital systems we're decades away from implementing.

We don’t have any comparable local powers and are totally unable to make trade offs as the legal system enables and rewards those who want to press their case.
