Listening to William Hurt reading The Sun Also Rises in the gym. Sublime! The miles fly by (all 2 1/2 of them)!

Just finished Gabriel's Moon by William Boyd. Brilliant spy story! Clever, absorbing plot and a fascinating examination of the motivation and character of an accidental spy. Reminds me of Graham Greene, but better.

This is a picture of me in the middle of the Berserkers' Lava Field, telling their story to a bunch of bemused crime writers.
It seems to me to sum up my Writing in Ice blog, which I am pausing for now. This is the last post: bit.ly/writinginice75

Gudrid the Wanderer was born in Iceland in about 960 AD; she married in Greenland; had a son in America and went on a pilgrimage to Rome. Following in her footsteps to Greenland: my latest #writinginice blogpost bit.ly/writinginice68

This is Major Wise, Britain's military intelligence officer during the occupation of Iceland. Distinctly dodgy character. Read Jokull Gislason's guest post on my blog: bit.ly/writinginice67 #writinginice

Icelandair should probably ask this guy to move a few paces to the left. He is standing in one of the most dangerous spots in Iceland – "sneaker waves" have killed several tourists here over the years. The poster mentions a bucket list: is this the last item? Hopefully, he was photoshopped. #iceland

Did you know Britain invaded Iceland in May 1940? I didn't, at least until I started writing about the country. Read my latest blog post on Britain in Iceland in World War II. bit.ly/writinginice66. This is Hvalfjördur, where the British naval base was. No trace there now. #writinginice.

Last month, I took six old friends and loyal readers with me to Iceland for five days to see a bit of the countryside and some of the places in my books. It was a great trip (or at least they seemed to think so!) Here is the itinerary. bit.ly/writinginice64
