Solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short.
The weirdest thing about these articles is that they all understand that voters want likable politicians with a compelling vision who deliver meaningful benefits. That's not really the case for centrism though!

Broke my ‘no influencers’ rule on Instagram to follow Debra Messing and now I have to resist posting like 10 of these here every day

It's great to hear that this Zohran Mamdani guy was actually a moderate, let's just fire up the ol' search function and see if that's how he was covered during his campaign
November 9, 2025 at 3:31 PM
OK great, then the poll-obsessed moderates will support the next leftist mayoral candidate rather than trying to tank their candidacy, right?

Damn, I hate it when things that happen mean nothing :-(

Youth unemployment is pretty low by historical standards! So is the recent college grad unemployment rate. Though they're both rising due to Trump.

Economic anxiety among young people is totally valid but these numbers and this person aren't the right vessel for it.
November 9, 2025 at 3:19 PM
The entire project here is so cynical. "We have to end foreign aid until we fix unemployment and bad schools!"

ok are you working to fix those problems?

"No."
November 9, 2025 at 2:58 PM
As usual the "economic anxiety" argument is being deployed to whitewash the odious views of wildly privileged people who want to get into power and make thing even worse for the poor. If this kid is racist it's because he's racist, it's not because he's struggling.

Name the ‘moderate position’ on literally any issue. Quickly.

Telling the people who voted for you that you are going to pass the policies you ran on is not a "shift" from a "mollifying tone"

When Republicans win elections: The people have spoken, we must let them implement their agenda.

When Democrats win elections: This totalitarian FREAK must be prevented from implementing the policies he ran on

This is clearly critical of the government of Israel but I’ve never seen a shred of evidence that Mamdani holds antisemitic views. The only thing they can cite is a slogan he didn’t say.
November 5, 2025 at 9:03 PM
The way all of these people convinced themselves that Mamdani is antisemitic is a subject far more worthy of media examination than any of the ‘groupthink on campuses!’ thinkpieces we’ve been subjected to

The argument makes no sense. Ross has been saying that Democrats will never win if they run on left policy. Then a Democrat wins by running on left policy and he says who cares, Mamdani isn't gonna go anywhere.
