This Veterans Day, I’m thinking about what our veterans gave us.
They fought for a country where power flows from the people. Where no one stands above the law. Where we choose our own path, free from kings and tyrants. That’s the gift they handed down, bought with courage, sealed with sacrifice.

Today, as news of President Biden’s cancer diagnosis reaches across our nation, I find myself not just as a State Senator from North Carolina, but as a parent, a citizen, and someone whose life has been personally touched by his compassion and leadership.

The Trump administration's "unwavering support" for Western NC has mysteriously wavered. Who could have predicted that big promises during photo ops wouldn't translate to actual help? Our communities are still waiting for that legendary "best disaster response ever."
