Yesterday was my last day at D&D. I was laid off along with a few other folks. I'm proud of the work I put out over these past 4+ years. I had the privilege of leading editorial and SEO for D&D Beyond, and helping develop marketing strategy for some kickass books coming down the line.

I'll also add that with the 2024 core rulebooks coming out later this year, I'm really looking for writers who would love digging into those books and writing about them!

You should be comfortable with:
- Following a strict style guide
- Receiving revisions*
- Turning in pieces on time
- Communicating when something comes up
- Providing fact check links, when needed

* I aim for max two rounds of revisions. Expect at least one every time.

I will not accept any work created using generative AI. It is banned at every step of our editorial process. 3/7

Linked samples don't need to be D&D-specific, but they should: - Show an understanding of writing for online audiences and for SEO - Show off your unique voice - Be free of errors - Reflect your ability to do research and turn learnings into digestible info 2/7

Repost from X: I'm looking for freelance writers for D&D Beyond articles. You should be highly knowledgeable of the fifth edition D&D ruleset, and regularly turn in relatively clean copy. 1/7

Google's rolling out some new updates, so web traffic and rankings will be haywire for a few weeks. It is noteworthy that this update punishes what is in most cases AI-generated content that is churned out to try and quickly capture rankings (1/4)

Being a DM can be stressful and a lot of work. But then you get those nights where the roleplay flows easily, you hit all your story beats, and the party cheers as the boss goes down in a fight, and it's such a rewarding experience.

I think the best response I've seen to AI anything has been, "Why should I bother reading something that nobody could be bothered to write"
