I'm a writer and often build neat digital things. Read crap tons: history, science fiction, all kinds of science. Hopeful. #writersky #gamesky
I used to see this at the end of shows on PBS when I was a kid and I was just completely lost. Not only did I not know how to pronounce it, I didn't know it even involved water!!!

Also highly effective as a greeting

Climbing up to the Ritacuba glacier in Boyaca, Colombia, we saw these colorful little ecosystems? Communities? Of plants. The landscape up there is pretty bleak, but beautiful plants thriving #plantsky

This person is the absolute embodiment of the banality of evil

Some reflections after climbing up to a Colombian glacier at 16000+ feet.
- The last hour of the four+ hour climb was by far the hardest
- I'm 52 and a 77-year-old guy made it up, but a lot of people in their 20s didn't even get close

Just some beautiful flowers I came across near La Uvita in Boyaca, Colombia! #flowersky

Either a Kent Brockman gag or a terrible Hallmark Movie pitch. So depressing

Climbed a mountain in Colombia today. To 16,000+ feet. To a glacier. Felt really good.

Tomorrow going to a magical place I've wanted to visit for a long time... El Cocuy in Boyaca, Colombia. Many buses, many arrangements, very excited!

Does anyone remember when George W. Bush nominated Harriet Miers for SCOTUS and she was such a hack that even the GOP wouldn't have it? Well, at this stage, if Trump nominates a slime mold, it will get in

Usually a little tough to get a closeup photo of a chachalaca in Medellin. This one was beautifully perched in an urban garden

Hey AI, stop pool-shaming elephants! Anyhoo, ChatGPT just gave me photographic proof that this is true

Extra scary because I was way too young to get into R rated. Bought a ticket for the dinosaur movie Baby😹 and snuck into this. Seriously scared the bejesus out of me

Im not recommending passive-aggressive game design for most, but I do love the hilarity of Kojima making players wear the "chicken hat" during a mission if they go on easy mode😹. But yeah, players should be able to just chill and play if they want

In 1972, Nixon won 2nd term... with 48 states. So wild. Tumultuous indeed!

His elderly aunt insisted he wear her favorite brooch into battle, a menswear trend that continues today

I HIGHLY recommend Long Good Friday if you haven't seen it. Best cat-and-mouse game ever and we never really see the cat

I'm really fascinated by the black ibises that hang out in Medellin in Colombia. They chill in fields to get insects, I reckon. But my favorite behavior, if you get a wee bit too close, they just sort of tiptoe away. "No ibis here, no sir!"

In Colombia, they wanted their own Black Friday even though there is no Thanksgiving, no holiday. So they came up with something ominously called just "Black Days" in English. I propose this fellow as Black Days Santa

Soon to a computer... nanoseconds? Soon in cosmic time? Like, before the earth plunges into the soon? I imagine an engineer chuckling when they wrote that error message

I didn't want to push my own top hat-centric worldview but since you've gone there, yes, and a monocle. The pipe in this photo of a whale in the wild is only because it was St. Crispin's Day. Usually would be a humongous cigar

What an imagination-provoking idea! This makes me think of the drive from Houston to New Orleans over the Atchafalaya Basin, just teeming with all kinds of mysterious things

Can we take up a collection to get this done?!
