Reading parts of the Valhalla comic to the boy. Had to pretend that the lindorm survived, however, as he is rather fond of dragons...

I moved desks at work this week. Now by a window, and even though it is awful weather, I feel a new and delightful sense of freedom. Also wasting time gazing out at the drizzle.

Still bad weather. Still ##caturday

It may be raining out, but I have a cuddly cat to keep me company. Every day is #caturday

I really need to stop reading the news and instead read, well, anything else.

Always a balm to read the Positive News quarterly magazine amidst the ongoing headlines. Can recommend.

As an aside, I've switched to norwegian browser Vivaldi in place of Chrome. No AI - it's wonderful! Can recommend.

Here is a video of a frozen creek that had begun to thaw, and the water was flowing beneath the thin ice on top. I took this because it was soothing and wonderfully bloopy and I wanted to listen to it for hours. You are all welcome to enjoy it, too. Let your brain settle here and rest for a moment.

Sticking with the icy theme today and watching Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Picked up Kevin Brown's Penicillin Man as the first non-fiction of the year. Fifty-odd pages in and I'm absolutely getting a greater appreciation for the sheer serendipity of Fleming's discovery.

Settling down with a Lucy Worsley victorian murder documentary. She really does gruesome history documentaries very well.

Our first (cinema) film of the year was My Neighbour Totoro. It's such a gorgeous film and delightful for both me and the little boy. I never tire of it: the music, the wonder, everything.

I think a major disappointment for me about AI is that it all seems to have turned out so very tiresome and bleak, like a support system for humanity's base impulses, when it should be shiny, sci-fi heaven.

Watching Stranger Things (S5), and Delightful is the word. A bit of suspension of disbelief, but I'm ok with that. Really hope they stick the landing.
