I’ve just realised that I’ve reached ‘500+ connections’ status on #LinkedIn. My cup overflows! I have nothing left to aim for in life.

Watched the film Bird directed by Andrea Arnold. Superb! A riveting story about chaotic and dysfunctional lives which was deeply depressing and strangely uplifting at the same time. Recommend!

Wow, if Djokovic can go on and beat Alcaraz in the final after beating Sinner in the semi, he will REALLY have deserved it!!

Watched most of Trump’s Davos speech. He really does inhabit a weird and warped world inside his own head. The problem is, he’s trying to transpose that world onto the actual world around him and has a lot of the power to do so! #Davos2026

Scary isn’t it - Trump actually BELIEVES some of the crap he spouts about Greenland (and loads of other things) 🫣
January 19, 2026 at 4:25 PM

On a walk today, saw this enigmatic plaque on a bench. What story lies behind it, I wonder…?

Thinking about billing my clients not in pounds and pence but in compulsory purchases of my novels. A dastardly sales technique, no?! #writingcommunity

Finished The Mystery of Edwin Drood - if you can finish an unfinished novel! Not Dickens’ greatest work, but full of dark comedy and vigour. Actually very poignant reading the last paras and knowing these were the last words, of many many thousands, that he ever wrote… #writingcommunity
