1/1 The site of Newhall Tower #Cheshire on a new Airbus satellite image from 17 August 2025 via Google Earth Pro. The circular site of a mound- presumably the site of the tower first documented C13 belonging to the de Audley family- is visible as a cropmark.

One of a number of Bronze Age ring ditch cropmarks at University Parks @ox.ac.uk visible on the ground in parched conditions today. Many of these features can be seen on recent aerial + satellite imagery (eg Apple Maps) as weather extremes become more common #climate @unioxarchaeology.bsky.social

Sections of a Roman road system in W #Iraq. A c75km section of this road linking #Hit to #Damascus, in part lined by clearance cairns, still survives with some damage from recent dirt tracks. The region was surveyed by Aurel Stein & #RAF in 1939: www.flickr.com/photos/apaam... #APAAME Source: Google

The shape reminds me of the visible sections of the angular fort which we interpreted as Iron Age below the small Roman fort at Charterhouse-on-Mendip. No sign of any Sarsen stones though: historicengland.org.uk/research/res...

Castle Ring #hillfort on the Stiperstones #Shropshire, with the hillfort at Earl's Hill visible (to the right) in the 1st image. Our rapid survey in 2003-4 identified hut platforms at the S end of Castle Ring at an intervisible point with Earl's Hill doi.org/10.5284/1011...

My first trip to the #Stiperstone Hills #Shropshire since my first job as an archaeologist working on a survey there 21 years ago. Fantastic day in spite of the Storm Éowyn winds, although did not quite make to the possible stone row we found north of the Paddocks. Report: doi.org/10.5284/1011...

Recent satellite imagery updates on Google Earth provide coverage for #Gaza for various dates in October 2023. While this imagery provides a glimpse of the damage that had occurred in the early stages of the #Israel military campaign, it minimises the level of devastation over the past 12 months.
